Hi! I'm Roxy. I have a background in math education, library and information science, web development, as well as content creation. I am most proud of my Tube Feed Tracker web app that is used by a niche part of the medical community around the world daily. I've spoken at conferences, appeared on podcasts, and was a guest on season 2 of CodeTV's Web Dev Challenge. I love learning, teaching, and having fun in tech. :)

March 2025: Day nine of treating LinkedIn like a blog. :)

This "blog" post is dedicated to community.
(If you want to make it really fun, take a shot every time I use the word community.)

Back in high school my counselor told me I needed to join an organization. A group, a sport...something. She said I'd have a better high school experience if I had a community. Spoiler - she was right.

- In college I was a Resident Advisor - a community builder. That's a tough job, by the way!

- If you work in education, the teacher community (AKA Happy Hour 🤣 ) is much needed. No way I would've been able to teach middle school math for almost ten years without them.

- Roller derby was another strong group (literally and figuratively), that actually lead me to my gym community, where I've been a member for over a decade. ❤️

- Enter the... ✨ tech community. ✨

These fine folks came into my life January of 2024. Since then I have surrounded myself with lovely new faces (or usernames lol) who help me pretty much every day, in one way or another.

Attending RenderATL (Render Atlanta) in 2024 really turned things around for me. I connected with wonderful people, worked on my pitch, gained confidence, and grew closer to my new friends in a more relaxed environment. I’m so excited to attend again this summer. (Make sure to grab your tickets sooner rather than later!)

I'd like to give a very specific shout out to a community I actually knit myself into thanks to RenderATL - the Randstad Digital | Torc community. Some of my friend circles overlap (cough 100Devs cough weareeverywhere cough), but the friendships I've either made or strengthened through the Torc discord and events are some that I will always cherish. And they always seem to reach out just when I need them most. ❤️
