LinkedIn Series: #13

Hi! I'm Roxy. I have a background in math education, library and information science, web development, as well as content creation. I am most proud of my Tube Feed Tracker web app that is used by a niche part of the medical community around the world daily. I've spoken at conferences, appeared on podcasts, and was a guest on season 2 of CodeTV's Web Dev Challenge. I love learning, teaching, and having fun in tech. :)

April 2025: Day 13 of treating Linkedin like a blog. :)

I've been in the #100devs community for about 1.5 years. It started with the "catch up crew" classes on YouTube, but since discovering the discord server and "Huntober," I have been a regular member of the 2x/week streams, which have really helped me gain valuable insight into the job hunt, as well as make wonderful friends within the organization.

There were a couple conferences I attended where Leon, the founder of 100Devs, was a speaker. I got to meet them, attend a couple mini 100devs meetups, and in a super fun turn of events we had an evening of Karaoke!

A few weeks ago Leon asked me if I wanted to be part of a project where they work 1 on 1 with someone publicly with the goal of obtaining a job so that others can see what works and what doesn't, and follow suit.
Of course I screamed - I mean said - yes.

This journey scares me in a good way. I haven't been doing everything "correctly." I have been cutting corners and will need to shape up.

What has been working is putting myself out there in general. Whether I have popped up in your feed or in person at a conference - I have been showing up, and for the most part I have remained positive. (We all have our moments!)

This is why "suddenly" opportunities have fallen into my lap. I've done the leg work, now it's time to do the brain work.

To say I am incredibly grateful is an understatement. It seems like I have thanked multiple people recently for seeing some kind of spark in me that I hope to catch a glimpse of one day. :)

Below is a screenshot at the end of the first stream. Nothing like a non-streamer telling her deepest and inner most thoughts to 430 people (at the height of it). I went through and read every comment later and my heart melted.

Y'all are the best - and the main reason I do not snooze on that 3:30am alarm! ❤️ 😭
